Ann Marie McManus - LOVE YOUR MOVE

you like. DECLUTTER AND DEEP CLEAN EEP CLEAN

Oh how my children pretend to HATE this mantra, "Give Away, Throw Away, Put Away" T adopted from the book “Sidetracked Home Executive” by Pam Young and Peggy Jones, but they all know it makes life easier! We Augustans who rent our homes for Masters have a huge advantage getting our homes ready for sale as we submit ourselves to PMS (Pre-Masters Syndrome) every spring to get ready for our guests! It is understandably inconvenient to live in your home without your “stuff,” like living in a hotel. However, it’s a necessary component of getting top dollar for your house. Extra furniture and items like books, magazines, CD collections, and hobby supplies add weight and visual distraction in a room. Your salt & pepper shaker collection is going to look like clutter, even if the buyer collects salt & pepper shakers. The more spacious your home appears, the more appealing it will be. Minimize as much as possible. You want the home shopper to see what your home has to offer, not guess about the potential or possibilities. Work From a Plan This is the best way to avoid what my dear friend Millie calls “Domestic ADD”. You will feel extra overwhelmed if the whole house is a wreck at one time! Before my daughter’s wedding, when we had to bring the reception home instead of the planned venue due to COVID-19, I resorted to hiring a college student friend of the family. Her main job was to say--”Aunt Annie, time to move on” when I would get paralyzed reading every Mother’s Day note I found among the boxes!
