It is about decorating it enough to look inviting, but not so much that potential buyers cannot visualize their own life there. It's also about the price. Buying a house is a considerable commitment, potentially the most significant chunk of money that someone will ever spend in one sitting, and prospective buyers are easily scared. If one thing, or even one small aspect, makes them unsure, there is a good chance you will lose the sale altogether. In a perfect world, everything would fall into place. You would sell your home at the exact time that you are ready to move into your new one.
