About Jeff Jones Jeff talked to a man (Charlie) who was attempting to sell his house on his own (a For Sale By Owner/FSBO). Jeff talked to Charlie, gave him a short 10-minute presentation, then asked him if he had any questions. Charlie told Jeff that he had been trying to sell his house for a year and had listed with 4 other realtors and had fired everyone. Charlie told Jeff he would list his house with him, so they filled out the paperwork. In a few days, Jeff was able get Charlie's house in contract at a higher price than the previous realtors had listed it. The house closed without incident and Charlie referred 3 other sellers to Jeff, who listed their homes with Jeff as well. After the closing, Jeff took Charlie to lunch, and he asked the Charlie why he listed his house with Jeff after firing 4 other realtors. The Seller said there were 3 things that made Jeff different: 1. Jeff spent more time listening to the Seller than talking. The house was where Charlie and his wife lived before, she died. Charlie took time to tell Jeff what his wife liked about the house and Jeff listened instead of trying to get the listing. 2. Jeff told Charlie that all calls came to his personal cell phone. The Seller said when he called other realtors to ask about his house, he always got someone in the office that didn't know anything about his house. When he called Jeff, Jeff either answered or called right back. 3. Jeff had a list of 185 tasks that he used to sell a house. Charlie liked the concept of having a checklist that Jeff used to sell his house.
