By now, it’s plain to see why it’s so important to work with a real estate agent throughout the home-selling and home-buying process. You wouldn't represent yourself in felony court without an attorney, and you shouldn't represent yourself in a real estate transaction without a licensed real estate agent. I definitely recommend hiring an agent—but the right agent. You need an agent who is professional, qualified, experienced, a skilled negotiator, a fantastic resource, someone who is your advocate, and someone who will skillfully and confidently guide you through every step during the downsizing process. Someone like me! This way, you can have as comfortable and stress-free experience as possible, and move into your new home that will better suit your needs as you look forward to enjoying the next exciting season of your life. I recommend an agent who is mature, ideally 50+, because they are also facing retirement decisions and paying close attention to the same issues that you are. If an agent isn't a designated Seniors Real Estate Specialist®, also called and SRES®, then they are missing a lot of important training and information.
