OCTOBER 2022

The Official Company Newsletter of the Authorify and Smart Agents Team

Team,

Last month, we went through our initiatives of growth and strategy for the company and I would just like to give you an update. One of our main initiatives is the direct selling of our process instead of going through a trial. What we are testing right now is launching new offers that get leads, book them appointments to talk directly to a salesperson and actually convert those leads. It’s been few weeks since it started and there’s still a lot of room for improvement however, we’re seeing promising results. I would also like to personally introduce our newest members to the team: Jordan Tomter - our new Financial Controller and HR. Welcome Aboard! Anne Keefe - our new Editorial Director who’s very excited on working with us. She’ll be focused on our content.

Joe Ryan & Adie Dacayana - our two new Marketing Consultants from PH.

We all welcome you to the team and very excited to have you on board.

Lastly, happy holidays to everyone!

team update TEAM PLAYER OF THE MONTH: Jervis Romero Why he was chosen: “He has an eagle eye for details which he uses to help spot tagging errors in the deals created not just by him, but also by his colleagues thus, improving the accuracy of the team’s work. But that’s not the only reason why he is special, Jervis readily takes on new tasks and responsibilities assigned to him without hesitations and he makes sure that he does his best consistently. He recently took on the responsibility of handling FCC payments, and with his eagle eye and persistence, he made stellar results in the month of September. He is truly the team player of the month in my book!” - Dennis (MET Team Lead) Here are some of the big wins and updates our team accomplished last month.

NEVER LET YOUR TEAM DOWN. Teamwork is crucial to our success. Without each other, we won’t succeed. I like to compare our team to a chain — without each link in the chain holding it together, the chain would break apart. That’s why we must treat each other as we would like to be treated ourselves and take care of each other. We need to watch each others’ backs and help when someone needs it. If we hurt each other, we are only hurting ourselves. We are a team. We MUST act and function as one. MAKE DECISIONS AND OWN THEM. When a decision needs to be made to move forward, make one, implement it, and own the results. In most cases, YOU are the one who knows how to do your job the best and therefore will make the best decision when issues arise. It should be noted, however, that when you work in collaboration with others or the decision is a large one with potentially wide-reaching consequences, it may help to seek council from someone higher up or seek input from your fellow team members. When you make a bad decision, own it. We are humans, NOT robots, and humans make mistakes. When we make the wrong decisions, we OWN them and fix them the best we know how. We are here to help and support each other, so if you get stuck, don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Here at Authorify/Smart Agents, we aim to follow four Core Values. They are: OUR CORE VALUES

2

12

Authorify Team Newsletter

3

ALWAYS BE IMPROVING.

You may have heard of the saying, “Pride Cometh Before The Fall.” If we ever feel like we have “arrived” or “know it all,” we can’t grow. People who “know everything” close themselves off from growth and learning new things. We believe it’s better to be a “learn it all” than a “know it all.” There is ALWAYS room for growth and improvement. Even the best teams, companies, and people in the world have room to improve and grow. As a team, we aim to “always be improving” by… z Improving our products z Improving our processes and systems z Growing as a team and as individuals z Continuing to sharpen our skills and learn new things z Becoming better team members, helpers, workers, supporters, family members, friends, coworkers, etc. PUT OTHERS FIRST. Our team truly cares about our customers and each other. We feel proud to see our customers’ lives become easier with our tools and resources. We love seeing people smile when we help each other. Putting others before ourselves makes us feel good and makes our work more fulfilling. One of my favorite quotes is a quote by Zig Ziglar: “You will get all you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want.”

AUGUST CORE VALUE STORIES CORE VALUE IN ACTION

Winner: CARLOS EGITO Nominated By: Ren Romero What core value(s) did this person display? Never Let Your Team Down “Today as I was writing this story, it felt like one of those days when nothing was going our way. It would seem like we could not find a solution to all of the issues coming at us from all directions. It’s definitely one of those days you’d do anything to get a break. I had two critical issues with one of our tools being used by Support. If Carlos, whom I believe has other important tasks to finish on their current sprint, did not jump in and resolve the issues, we would still be doing a lot of manual tasks which would affect the overall bandwidth of the Support team. You have no idea how you relieved us from additional undue stress. You are a gift! You definitely did not let us down! We appreciate you!”

Nominee: MANUEL TORREJON Nominated By: Abigail Tolentino What core value(s) did this person display? Never Let Your Team Down “Everyone knows Manny. He is a jolly team member that everyone can easily warm up to. I can still remember the day he reached out to me and asked me how my day was. It’s been only a few weeks since I joined Authorify as a part of the MSR team and I was actually having a bad day at work. Somehow that small act of kindness made me feel welcomed. Since then, he is one of the people I inquire with about products and processes because he is a great resource of information and will make time to dumb things down for you. He shares his experiences and the things he learned while handling a complex inquiry so everyone can learn from it too – and sometimes laugh together at it. He also encourages people to participate in every company activity and be involved in discussions. Although I am no longer with MSR, he’d still reach out from time to time to connect and discuss processes with me (or really just to share a song he covered). This nomination has been long overdue and I think everyone can agree with me that Manny is that one person that makes people stick around. Thank you, Manny!” Nominee: ABIGAIL TOLENTINO Nominated By: Mary Angay What core value(s) did this person display? Never Let Your Team Down “When Abby moved to the Campaign Admin team, always performed above par. From being an MSR to handling leads for DFY and RM, she adjusted really fast. She always made sure that the tasks are completed. When we do have questions, she is always there with an answer. Her being a part of the elite team since the start just shows that she is performing very well. Abby is always ready to help. You are awesome, Abby! Thank you for everything that you do!”

Nominee: RIKA MATSUMOTO Nominated By: Christopher Quiambao What core value(s) did this person display?

Put Others First and Never Let Your Team Down “A few weeks ago TL Rika was not around, because she was sick. She sent us a message saying that she will still be checking her slack on her phone and we can still ask questions even though she is not feeling well and not logged in. I even remember that I encountered a very unusual concern from a member that I’m assisting and I didn’t know what to do. So, I messaged her not thinking she will respond but I was surprised she did. I ended up calling her to ask for some help and she didn’t hesitate to answer the phone and go to her computer to review the account with me so we can figure out what we can do to help resolve the member’s concern. This wasn’t the first time she did something like this, I’m sure not only for me but for the WHOLE TEAM. When she was first introduced as our Team Lead, she promised us that she will always listen and help us figure even the hardest things out. We can also talk to her about our personal problems and she just knows the right things to say to encourage us to keep going and STAY MOTIVATED! A quote she shared with us: “The best preparation for good work TOMORROW is to do good work TODAY.” motivated me to keep going and focus on my goals. I could not thank TL Rika enough for EVERYTHING she has done and is DOING for us. She may not know it but she has made a huge impact to me and the team. She always tells us that she appreciates us for our hard work but I would like to take this opportunity to tell her and everyone that we appreciate her for everything. THANKS AGAIN TL RIKA! YOU’RE AWESOMEEE!!!!”

“Jervis goes beyond the call of duty for his team. With a mindset of a true team player, he never backs down from any tasks given to him on top of his primary responsibilities in order to help execute our team’s action plans. He proactively offers assistance, helps mentor our new team members, and is always ready to take on new challenges to help in the success of our team. Jervis, you’re truly awesome! Keep up the good work!” Want to submit a Core Value Story for one of your fellow team members? Go to authorify.com/core-values . You and the person you nominate could be chosen to spin the wheel during our next team meeting!

“I always believe that the whole development team shares their best each in their own way, and deserves to be recognized and acknowledged. If only I can nominate the whole Dev Team I would. As the saying goes, the success of one is a success to all -- because we are one team, however, I would really like to share and appreciate the generosity of help for this specific colleague. He helped me big time to make my work easier despite his very busy schedule with his own tasks. He understood my roadblocks and initiate to spare some of his time to help as much as he can, I am pretty sure that there is also another team member who helps build the tool but there is only one nomination for this category, so, I would like to say thank you for putting others first, for always trying to make time whenever someone needs help, to the awesome developer and gym builder Breno Alves, kudos to you man! I also would like to extend my gratitude to the rest of the Dev Team. Cheers!!”

FEATURED TEAM MEMBERS Each issue, we’ll feature members of our team so you can learn a little more about the people you work with! DENNIS GONZALES JR. MET Team Leader Team Member Since March 2022 Where are you originally from? Philippines Where do you live now? Philippines What was your background before getting a job with Authorify? I was a Site Training Manager for a BPO company before I joined Authorify I took up Dentistry back in college but had not completed my 5th year because I was short in finances back then. Now I am currently completing my studies in Business Administration Has your background helped you in your current Authorify role? Yes, fortunately, I had great mentors when I worked in the BPO industry. Some were kind, some were ruthless which was part of my learning and a big influence on how I work today. Experience has taught me that change is the only thing that is constant so we just have to keep moving forward, learn from the past and be a better version of ourselves as we go. What is your current Authorify role/what do you do? I am one of the team leaders here in Authorify, leading a band of misfits called the Member Experience Team. We are responsible for keeping our members stay in business with Authorify. What do you enjoy doing outside of work? On top of spending time with my family, I draw random things when I want to focus and I love collecting toys.

Is there anything else you want people to know (family members/pets, hobbies, talents, etc.) I have two “evil” dogs. One will chase and bite anyone he doesn’t like and the other one will just run away every opportunity he gets and let me chase him for hours before letting me catch him. So, if there’s anyone who wants two “evil” dogs, take mine they’re good for cardio. What is your current Authorify role/what do you do? I’m an API developer, but I also work as a solution architect and DevOps. So, I design our solutions, implement them, and sometimes deploy them to production. What do you enjoy doing outside of work? I like going to the gym, playing some games, hanging out with my friends, or just staying home and watching movies with my wife. Is there anything else you want people to know (family members/pets, hobbies, talents, etc.) Actually, I have some hidden talent. When I was a teenager I used to be one of the best players in a game called OSU!, besides that, I consider myself a decent CS:GO player. Also, my family and my everything, my wife Letícia, and our dogs Arya, Moana, and Afonso... without them to give the support I wouldn’t be where I am at today. BRENO ALVES Senior API Developer Team Member Since May 2022 Where are you originally from? Brazil Where do you live now? Natal, Brazil

What was your background before getting a job with Authorify? My first working experience as a developer was in early 2019, as a freelancer front-end developer, for several companies. However, my coding journey started at age 14. After that first real work experience, I felt the need to migrate to a different area and became a backend developer, working at Solarview and at Eventials after. Those were great opportunities in which I learned a great deal from my senior colleagues. Then I met my work colleague Jean in 2022 who invited me to work with him and now I am proud to be part of Authority’s development team. Has your background helped you in your current Authorify role? Yes, definitely. In the past years, I accumulated a lot of experience in multiple technologies that we do use at Authorify and surely it helped a lot to hit the ground running when I first arrive here.

work tip of the month: begin your day with movement Lori Cheek of Cheekd believes in starting everyday with some sort of movement. She shares, “I have a morning routine that helps my work productivity. As soon as I wake up around 5:30 am, I start the coffee maker then I roll out my yoga mat and do 30 pushups, 100 sit-ups and 3 rounds of one minute planks followed by a quick stretch. It takes less than 20 minutes and not only does it get my heart pumping and immediately wake me up, it gives me a calm start to the day.” A recent study found that exercise not just only improves well-being, but participants noted a 72 percent improvement in time management and workload completed on days when they exercised.

people that say, “Honey, where’s my magazine?” You know? It’s very nice to have. Between the book and the magazine and the fact that you can either do a hard copy or digital, it’s a no-brainer. There’s an adage that, people remember by seeing more so than by hearing. And so I offer my books so that they can get a heads up. I do a lot of training prior to trying to sell my clients, and the book has come in very handy that way. I explain to them, “You’re going to have questions. Once you have finished reading my book, jot your questions down and then we can get together.” And, it’s worked very well” She’s able to her books both for Sellers and Buyers “I have about six or seven different flippers that will reach out to me in a text because I’ve

Recently, Las Vegas-based Authorify member Honey Borla shared how her books have given her an edge over other agents. In addition to her books, Honey is a member of Referral Marketing utilizing the monthly Home Sweet Home Magazine to create consistent touch points with her past client database. “I just got my 35-year pin and I actually worked for one of the top producers in Las Vegas for a couple of years prior to getting licensed. I am a three-term director for our association, and I used to be the corporate broker manager for the largest producing Century 21 company in the world here in Las Vegas. That was before the bubble.” Honey found Authorify 2 years ago. “I’m always keeping my eye out for good marketing products, and I came across this and I also have the magazine. It works just phenomenal for me. I’ve got

offered, this information to them. They’re constantly reaching out to me, you know, “Do you have any listings yet?” In fact, a couple of them now are saying, “We’d like for you to represent us as buyers.” So, you have to learn, what works best. I’m also a certified probate specialist and the attorneys like the book. I’m old-world as far as marketing and prospecting. I like to go out and do nose-to-nose. I just get more out of it from my prospects. I show them an example, you know, “This is one of my books. I have several titles, depending on what your need is.” And then I also let them know that I also have a free monthly magazine. I let them know that this magazine, “I can either give you a hard copy, or I can send it to you digitally.” It just works. I have two meetings a month to teach about financing or the real estate process. I’ve set it up through one of my escrow companies, and I will have an escrow officer there and a lender there. When I send out my notices, I tell them that you will get a free copy of whichever book applies to them for attending/ So it helps get the attendance up” Most of her clients loved her books and asks for more. “I have a lady who, she’s been my client now for several years, she loved the book. She had started out as a renter two and a half years ago, she became a buyer. She loved the book. She tells her children, “You’re not using anybody but Honey, Honey will give you a book.” I don’t have to open my mouth. She does it all for me. My eye doctor, I gave him a book and he asked if it’d be possible to get a couple more books for family members. I said, “Yes, absolutely.” I’m not stingy in giving them out. I am a firm believer you have to spend money to make money, but they’re worth every penny. They’re actually more, they’re worth more than every penny,

because your return is just super. I probably get four to five extra transactions a year, if not more.” She always have her books and magazines in her car. “If I have leftover hard copies of my magazines, when I’m prospecting new people, I give them the old copy, the fresh copies go to my existing people that I’m talking to, you know, on a regular basis. I keep magazines with me at all times because number one, they’re light enough. I can put a couple in my purse, so when I’m in the store cashiers love it. You just never know, you never assume. In fact, one of my clients, I met at Costco. He’d just gotten transferred from San Diego. I went back to Costco to give him a magazine. He had told me his horror story about an agent that had just drug him through the mill and they ended up renting because the agent screwed up a transaction. I think about four months later, maybe six months, he called me and he said, “My wife hit a jackpot. She hit a $25,000 jackpot. We’ve got the down payment.” But that came from a magazine. You never know” “The biggest problem we have in our industry is agents don’t like the prospect. It doesn’t make it any easier than this. I personally don’t care for lead programs because you have to spend an excessive amount of time incubating everybody. Having the magazines and having the book resolves a lot of issues. I start out every month with a copy of my magazine and every month I reiterate, “If you would like a family member to have a copy, just shoot me their name, email address and what it is they’re looking for.” As time goes on, you build that rapport. It gives you a reason to knock on the door. With that book and or the magazine, it’s a lay-down, it opens pretty much any door. So, then it’s just up to me.”
