It’s extremely important to know the “ins and outs” of what to look for in a real estate agent before you bring one along with you to help in your home search, so you will know what to expect and what will be expected of you.
WHO A REAL ESTATE AGENT IS
In short, a real estate agent is someone licensed to list and sell real estate, including homes, multi-family properties, and commercial and industrial buildings. A REALTOR®, however, is somewhat different. A Realtor® is a member of the National Association of REALTORS®. While an agent is always a real estate agent, a real estate agent isn’t always a Realtor®. Real Estate Agents who work on behalf of and in the best interests of the buyer, are commonly called “Buyer’s Agents”. Listing Agents typically represent the seller and act in the best interests of their client. As stated previously, a listing agent might be able to represent both the buyer and the seller if they get a signed agreement by both the buyer and seller stating they are acting as a dual agent. I do not recommend dual agency as it creates many
