Growing up in poverty and especially dealing with homelessness as a child developed a passion and drive within me to do whatever it took to acquire that security. The benefits mean a lot to me; I want others to know that joy. When I meet a renter who never gave homeownership a thought, or perhaps thought that they would never be a homeowner because of bad credit, not enough money, etc... It fuels my passion. When I help them get their credit repaired and approved for a low-interest loan, find that home they fall in love with, and later sit at the closing table with them and hand them those keys, there's little in life better than that feeling. That's why I chose to specialize in first-time home buyers when I started in this industry. This stuck a cord in my heart guitar, and I wanted to share that music with others. Throughout the following several chapters, I will expand on what I have learned about the ten simple steps to accomplishing your "why." First, let's find out what they are and get familiar with them: 1. Show prospects how you helped other customers reach their goals. Customers don't know about real estate to determine which agents are good and which are not. Use case studies, testimonials, and incentives to prove your effectiveness. 2. Learn how to make friends. People prefer to do business with people they like. Win people's business by first winning their friendship. To develop this ability, practice listening attentively to people.
