Decide on whether you’re going to hire a moving company to help you or if you decide to do it yourself. If you are hiring, now is a good time to finalize the details of your big move. Could you enlist the help of family and friends and let them know when they can help you pack or unpack? Please update all personal documents that include your address and notify your employer, banks, and insurance companies of your address change.
TWO WEEKS BEFORE THE B RE THE BIG MOVE
Clean up every room once you’ve packed all the items in it. Disassemble furniture you won’t use in the following days and pack or prepare for moving. Set aside all items you won’t need and schedule them for pickup by the local Salvation Army or any organization you donate them to. Now is the perfect time to plan a garage sale. File your leave from work for the days you’ll concentrate on the move. Prepare a suitcase with items you’ll need on the day of your big move, such as towels, toiletries, clean clothes, etc. Check the condition of your new place and ensure everything is ready for moving day. Clean up all the clutter, and check whether the switches are working and whether electricity is available. Throw away all unneeded and unusable items, especially flammable items, such as leftover paint, spray cans, or propane. Could you call your relatives and friends who enlisted to help with the packing and moving and let them know your schedule?
