ONE WEEK BEFORE THE B RE THE BIG MOVE
If hiring a moving company, call to confirm details, such as arrival time and pickup. Please draw up a timetable for moving day, including the time to start loading boxes, where/when to stop for lunch, the estimated arrival time at the new place, etc. This will give you a sense of what to expect and prepare for on the day. With the help of volunteer family and friends, finish packing all your things, leaving only the essential items you’ll use daily. Please ensure all your boxes are correctly packed, numbered, and color-coded by room. This will help you in the unpacking process. Also, please make sure there are labels on the tops and sides of the boxes. Prepare a snack bag for moving day. Bring lots of water and high-energy food to sustain your strength while moving. Have your checklists and pens ready in your bag. Clean up your refrigerator, stove, and other kitchen appliances. Make sure most of the food in the fridge will be consumed by moving day. Please make sure that all your donation/giving-away items are picked up or delivered to their new owners.
Do all utilities work correctly in your new home?
Prepare several Post-it notes with your new address and contact numbers to be given to your movers or your entourage on moving day.
