Shelhee Gal | David Elan - A REAL ESTATE GUIDE TO A STRESS-FREE LIFE

home in which you’re interested but also in its location. Can you really see yourself living there? This is an important question to ask and consider before you proceed with the home-buying process.

Step #6: Choose a Home Type

When it comes time to choosing a home type, keep in mind that we're not referring to interior design or décor; rather, we're referring to a small, single-family home, a townhouse, a condo, an apartment, a bungalow style, or a two-story home, as well as features such as patio, yards, garages, and, overall, how the home is designed. Homeowners who are downsizing are often looking for smaller homes that are on one level, and are less concerned with patios, yards, and garages. In fact, these latter elements might be a detriment for Baby Boomer buyers. Design matters! Don’t ignore this significant detail when looking at and choosing your next home as you continue the downsizing process. The overall design of the home and everything it contains (or doesn’t) should meet all of your needs.

Step #7: Tour Homes

This is part of the fun of the home-buying process, but it can also be a bit tricky to navigate. It’s exciting to picture yourself in a new home, a new home that will better suit your needs, your situation, and your lifestyle as you enter the next chapter of your life. Visiting several open houses—with professional representation, of course—is a great opportunity for you to figure out what’s out there within your price range and your spectrum of needs, what is and what isn’t the right home for you, and then finding it!
