Rob Vanovermeire - YOUR GUIDE TO PURCHASING A HOME

The moral of the story is to work with a knowledgeable patient Realtor and use a good inspector. These buyers, like many were attracted by a price & felt the pressure of losing a good deal. They didn’t do a proper inspection of the home before purchasing & a contributing issue was the agent seem to care more about selling the home than pointing out all potential pros and cons to the buyers.

HOME-BUYER PLAGUES

Often home buyers who have owned before express confidence that they know what they are doing. The truth is most people know just enough to get themselves in trouble. We only know what we know, and we don't know what we don't know which means there are tons of little issues that you won't recognize without the help of an expert. Be careful. Be smart. These horror stories are real and happen every day. Do your homework & interview your Realtor before going to look at homes. Each agent has different levels of experience and knowledge. Your Realtor should be willing to meet you and go over how they work and explain the process. Ask lots of questions and listen to how they answer the questions. If your gut feeling is telling you to interview more agents then trust your gut. Too many people spend more time shopping for a car than they do on a home — a much larger and more permanent investment.
