second win over South Carolina with three K in two innings… Had four punch-out's in three innings against No. 16 Ole Miss on April 17… Was credited with the victory in the opener at Vanderbilt, when he delivered four strikeouts and held the Commodores scoreless and hitless over 3.1 innings…
Tony closed out the ninth inning against the Florida State Seminoles. Tony entered the game with the bases loaded and nobody out. He held off the Seminoles and earned the victory when, with the score tied and the bases loaded, Buddy Munroe came through with a walk-off single for the win!
Tony worked his way into the starting pitcher rotation in his Freshman year at UF and started 5 games. Quite an honor for a Freshman pitching in the SEC. When the Gators hired a new coach, Kevin O'Sullivan, Tony moved to the roll of "specialist." His job was to come in to the game when the biggest hitters were coming up or when runners were in scoring position and the game was on the line. Coach Sully taught Tony how to throw sidearm and he helped him get his velocity up to 92 mph. Tony would throw the 90+ heat to right-handed batters and drop down and throw sidearm to left hander batters.
