by Rick Davis - This Incredible Adventure Called Life

After his junior year at UF he was drafted in the 12th round by the Twins. Below is him signing his contract with the Twins.

As soon as the college season ended Tony drove his pickup truck up to Tennessee to play in the Rookie level of the Minor Leagues.

He played so well in Rookie Ball that after one month the Single A team called him up to join them. In a strange twist of fate, his Grandma Davis passed into Heaven that same day. Instead of moving up Tony decided to go to his grandmother's funeral. By the time he got back they had called up another pitcher so Tony stayed in Rookie ball. When the season ended, he got in his truck and started the drive home to Florida. While driving he got a call from his coach asking where he was? Tony said he was on his way to Florida and the coach said "well turn around, I have an airline ticket with your name on it for you to fly to Connecticut and join the Double AA team. Seems they're trying to make the playoffs and they needed a lefty reliever." So, he drove back to TN and the next morning got up at 4:00AM to fly to Connecticut and join the Rock Cats. He was in a whole new world with a huge stadium and a Double AA team that needed to win two out of the next three games to make it to the playoffs. Their opponent was the Double AA New York Yankees.
