by Rick Davis - This Incredible Adventure Called Life

AOL in 1999 and began working with my brother Scott. This was a great time to work for AOL and I really enjoyed working with my brother who was the Technical Director and lead design engineer. I learned a great deal from Scott but mostly how to be disciplined and out work everyone else. I applied this mentality and became the Technical Director myself heading up all of AOL's data centers ranging from VA, to CA to our Frankfurt, Germany location. I was the director for 3 years when I resigned in 2017 as the merger between AOL and Yahoo was not going well. A few months later in 2018 I joined data center colocation provider Quality Technology Services as a Site Director. I manage a large 220,000 sqft data center with 3 much larger buildings in the process of construction over the next 2 years. I truly love the data center industry and think it's cool how my dad, my brother and now my eldest son Rickey have all worked in this industry. That's very rare but I'm very proud to be part of that group. One of my fondest memories was working with a deaf employee named Jason Ingraham. Jason patiently taught me American Sign Language (ASL) and during our time together we developed a wonderful friendship. He was a great athlete, a good poker player, and had the best sense of humor. As mentioned Cris and I were married in 1986 and I can't wait to retire to spend more time with her. God is the center of our lives and it's been a wonderful adventure raising our family together attending their games, piano and dance recitals, plays, and concerts. We went to Italy for our 30th anniversary and plan to travel to Spain for our 35th and Ireland for a family vacation. Rickey and Mandy live close by and have 2 wonderful sons, Tristan and Kellan. As mentioned, Rickey has risen through the union ranks as a licensed electrician and is highly respected in the data center industry. He has helped construct, operate and commission new data centers. He often meets people that know Scott or I which he gets a kick out of.
