Rodell Jefferson, Associate Broker - FOR SALE BY YOU: THE ULTIMATE GUIDE

Put the litter box in the basement or on a porch to rid the inside of cat smells. You may have to give Fido more frequent baths to prevent doggy smells from wafting throughout the house. Clean fish ick: Not the disease, but the aquarium. Make sure aquariums are clean and the water is clear. Here’s a tip: Mr. Clean Magic Erasers do a great job clearing algae from tank walls. Find a playdate for your pet: Ask family or friends to take the dog during showings. If you can’t find a playdate for your pet, spring for a doggy daycare session. Kennel your cutie: If you can’t banish your pet for a day, put him in a kennel during showings. If your pet isn’t yet kennel-trained, start the process a few months before you put your house on the market. Fill holes: Dogs dig, but you don’t want buyers turning their ankle in holes when they tour your yard. Before each showing, fill new holes your dog has dug. And to minimize digging, take your dog on lots of long walks. A tired dog is a good dog. Pick up poo: Same goes for dog poo. Scoop it before each showing.
