Writing a great description
The objective of most writing is to educate or entertain. The goal of a real estate listing to get bodies through the door. Your listing description should be concise and filled with powerful, picture-painting words that bring to life your home’s most salable qualities.
In the past, that meant including a bulleted list of:
• Open floor plan • Direct ocean view • Custom closets • Hardwood floors
Today, however, listings are morphing into mini-narratives that create scenarios. What once read: Colonial w/ 6 BR/6.5 BA & 2 story foyer w/ marble & limestone staircase, living rm, 2 story fam rm w/ FP. Now reads: Imagine making your grand entrance down a marble/ limestone staircase, entertaining holiday guests in a two-storey family room, and singing carols before a raging fire.
VENUES THAT GIVE YOU THE BIGGEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK
Now that you’ve selected your words and pictures, it’s time to decide where to put these pearls.
