Prospective buyers will decide in seconds if they want to investigate a house further, whether viewing a photo online or driving by your home. “Curb appeal” — or the attractiveness of a property for sale and its surroundings when viewed from the street — is as important as correct price-setting and is critical to selling your home for more. First impressions are powerful. Sorry, but there’s no second chance to make a first impression, so creating curb appeal is crucial to generating interest in your home. Curb appeal is so powerful a selling tool that your well-prepared house may even catch the attention of buyers who weren’t attracted by the written description of your home.
CURB APPEAL GREATLY AFFECTS THE SALE
A potential buyer is looking for signs indicating how well the home has been cared for and maintained over a long period, and can be influenced by signs showing the type of homeowner currently living there. Beyond aesthetics, the buyer is looking for evidence of wear, tear, and neglect. Packaging sells! Starting at the curb, a well-manicured lawn and fresh appearance of the exterior demonstrates that the homeowner is up to an appealing standard, and shows that the current homeowner takes pride in the property’s aesthetics.
