(and even Monday) can typically be the worst day(s) to view homes. If the home has been on the market for a few days, the odds are by Sunday the sellers already have many good offers in hand. If you go to view a home on Sunday and you like it, you may end up being told that the seller is no longer accepting any offers or they may even cancel the showing before you ever get there. Just as bad is a Monday. For the same reasons as above, a home probably had a lot of showings over the weekend and took in many offers. Sometimes they don't make up their mind until Monday or made up their mind and accepted the offer Sunday night but the agent has not yet updated the MLS to reflect the home as being under contract. They have 48 hours to change MLS status so the home could already be under contract even if you still see it listed as available on Monday. The best day(s) to view a home that goes on the market on a Thursday (which is typically the most common day) is that day or Friday. Saturday could be a madhouse with a lot of people going through an open house but the home is most likely still available.

For most people, the prospect of going to view homes they like is a thrilling experience. It’s tempting to think that this is the first step to buying a home, but it’s not. Assuming you have your down payment, mortgage pre-approval, and other financial issues handled, the first thing you need to do before viewing any home is to determine what you’re looking for.
