Dear Doug,
As you know, our home in Niskayuna had been on and off the real estate market for three years or more. Two other realtors had been unsuccessful in obtaining any halfway reasonable offer for the property. In fact, we had only two offers in all that time. Nor did we receive any advice as to what we could do to make our unusual house more saleable. Finally, taking matters in our own hands, we decided to upgrade the kitchen counters and floor, cleaned up and carpeted the finished basement and emptied the house of almost all furniture. We then gave you the house to sell. Within days, you sold the house! The initial offer by the buyer was not acceptable and you hung in there during the negotiations, realizing what was for us a minimal acceptable price. You kept us informed – we were in our Arizona home at the time – and made it clear to the buyer that we were not going to accept a “distress” price for our home. We were not happy with the final price but considering the poor real estate market in Niskayuna and the unusual design of our home, it was probably the best anyone could have done. As the sellers, we were also somewhat difficult and contentious having had a very poor experience with realtors up until that time. We are very happy that our house is no longer ours and only wish we had sold it years ago. You did a great job however, in moving the property and we appreciate it. You know your business and we wish you much success in the future.
