You need to start this process by actually contacting an agent. You can do this several ways, but a simple phone call often works best, and is the most comfortable option for many people in this stage of life who are downsizing. But where do you find these phone numbers? One tip is to drive around your area of choice (where you’d like to move), locate “for sale” or “sold” signs, and find the agent’s contact information. Make sure you have a decent list of different agents and their numbers. When you contact them, you can simply start by mentioning that you’re looking to retain the services of a real estate agent who can help you with the process of downsizing. Most will respond positively: “You called the right number! I’m just the right person who can help you with all your needs!” This is the time to mention that you’re happy to interview them, as you are considering various options.
