Chapter 13: Seasonal Marketing — Fall and Halloween The leaves are changing, the weather is getting cooler — but not too cold, yet! — and everyone is getting into the mood for the festive time of year.
Fall is the perfect time for festivals, delicious foods, and high spirits — all elements that add up to some fantastic marketing opportunities.
Get into the spirit of fall, and you never know who you might meet.
Host or sponsor fall weather events. Whether you partner with a local farm or host an event at a local park, fall is the perfect time to organize events and get your name out in the community.
Here are some ideas: ❏ Fall Festivals
Kids can decorate pumpkins, stuff scarecrows and have their faces painted. Rent a bounce castle, consider offering hay rides, and hire a DJ to play music. You can hand out baked goods and apple cider from local bakeries and orchards. ❏ Costume Contests or Parades Incorporate a costume contest with other fall events. Offer a prize, and don’t forget to share results on social media! ❏ Trunk or Treat What is a trunk or treat? It’s when everyone shows up in costume and trick or treats from car to car, handing out candy and other prizes. Attendees bring their own candy to hand out to everyone else. You just provide the venue, plus any extras, like games and music. ❏ Beer Tasting For an adults-only event, contact local breweries and food vendors, and offer parents a night away from the kids featuring seasonal beers and snacks. You could include a costume contest and hire a local band to liven the atmosphere. At all of these events, it’s important that people know you were the one behind all of the fun. In the name of the event, be sure to include “Hosted by [Your name].” Include this branding in any flyers you hand out and in any social media events you create.
