CHAPTER 27 Moving Guide
Moving can bring unexpected costs to companies. You’re already dealing with so much that you didn’t add that to the budget. When you plan your entire budget, make sure this is in there. Here are some factors to consider while pricing your move and building your budget.
THE TYPES OF OFFICES YOU ARE MOVING INTO AND OUT OF
Open-space offices are much easier and quicker to move into. Depending on what floor you were on before you moved and will be on in your new building, it will cost more and take longer. If you are using a company (which I recommend), have one of the movers look at both spaces before the move takes place. Cubicles, for obvious reasons, take longer than other setups to move into. Because of that, movers need more than just the square footage and floors of the move to build an accurate bid. What type of furniture are you moving or bringing in? Is there a kitchen you need to furnish? What storage areas do you need to move and unpack? These are factors that will affect your time and price estimates. Do your furniture and desks need to be broken down, then reassembled at the new office? If so, do you want the movers to do that or your staff? Planning these things beforehand will lead to an easy and smooth move.
