TIP #2: FIND AN AGENT WITH LOCAL KNOWLEDGE
As I mentioned, a good real estate agent must be knowledgeable — and this includes familiarity with the area where you live and where you’d like to move. They should know about the neighborhood, the pros and cons, and about other properties that have recently sold and/or are currently for sale. It’s a bonus if the agent knows specific details about each property on the market, which proves that they’re on top of the market, something that will definitely help you out.
TIP #3: CHOOSE AN AGENT WITH THE RIGHT CREDENTIALS
Credentials are extremely important. Think about it for a minute. Would you hire an electrician without checking their credentials and qualifications? What about a doctor? They have their credentials and qualifications displayed on walls for patients to view in plain sight. The same goes for real estate agents. You need to ensure your potential agent possesses the licenses and certifications required for them to actually work as a qualified real estate agent. As mentioned above, a real estate agent can also be a Realtor®, which means they are an official member of the NAR®.
TIP #4. REACH OUT TO RECENT CLIENT O RECENT CLIENTS
Both fantastic and not-so-fantastic real estate agents alike will get their fair share of reviews and feedback; however, not all will have recommendations or referrals. You need to look into the latter. Research them yourself, or ask the agent to provide a list of what they have listed and sold within the past year, with contact
