Negotiating your home sale does not have to be intimidating. By learning how real estate negotiations work and how to apply proven techniques, you can get the price you want from the buyers. Also, and this is very important, if you think negotiating means getting everything you want and the other side losing, that is not
negotiating. Negotiating is the art of everyone getting what they want and feeling good about it. That usually involves some type of compromise on some items. What I have learned through 40+ years of negotiating and through many courses I have studied on the art of negotiating is if one side gets everything and the other side feels "cheated", the deal is not a good deal for everyone - that is called a "Win-Lose" transaction. In a Win-Lose transaction, the odds are the deal will blow up at some point. When everyone walks away feeling good about the transaction it's a "Win-Win". Strive to make your deal a Win-Win and you will have a successful negotiation.
