House Hunting in Oregon Mike truly has traveled all across Oregon looking for our perfect home. Both my husband and I work remotely from our apartment in Austin, TX so we all had to get creative while searching for our new house. We got really familiar with all the different video conferencing tools and he patiently obliged to all the requests we made to be our eyes in the house. There was a lot of “ can you look in the pantry again” or “turn slightly left with the phone video” “can you show us that corner?” etc... On one of our frequent house searches online we came across a house we loved in Salem. I immediately called him up and asked if it was possible to schedule a tour even though it was so far away and asked how that would work since he was based in Southern Oregon. Without hesitation he said “I guess that means I’m going to Salem today!” He scheduled a tour time and was on the road minutes after we had called him. As soon as he got there we knew this house was going to be in a bidding war. There was someone already touring and more people waiting outside and this was the FIRST day this house was on the market. After the tour, we were all smitten and Mike wrote up an offer that same night knowing that the competition would be fierce (after driving back from Salem that is!). Unfortunately, that house was not meant to be with more than two dozen offers!
Both having remote jobs allowed us to have a lot of options but it also meant a lot of traveling for Mike. We found a house near
