November Core Value Stories

Nominee Rika Matsumoto

Nominated By: Christopher Quiambao What core value(s) did this person display? Put Others First and Never Let Your Team Down “A few weeks ago TL Rika was not around because she was sick. She sent us a message saying that she will still be checking her Slack on her phone and we can still ask questions even though she is not feeling well and not logged in. I encountered a very unusual concern from a member that I'm assisting and I didn't know what to do. So, I messaged her not thinking she would not respond but I was surprised she did. I ended up calling her to ask for some help and she didn't hesitate to answer the phone and go to her computer to review the account with me so we could figure out what we could do to help resolve the member's concern. This wasn't the first time she did something like this, I'm sure not only for me but for the WHOLE TEAM. When she was first introduced as our Team Lead, she promised us that she will always listen and help us figure even the hardest things out. We can also talk to her about our personal problems and she just knows the right things to say to encourage us to keep going and STAY MOTIVATED! A quote she shared with us: "The best preparation for good work TOMORROW is to do good work TODAY." This motivated me to keep going and focus on my goals. I could not thank TL Rika enough for EVERYTHING she has done and is DOING for us. She may not know it but she has made a huge impact on me and the team. She always tells us that she appreciates us for our hard work but I would like to take this opportunity to tell her and everyone that we appreciate her for everything. THANKS AGAIN TL RIKA! YOU'RE AWESOME!!!!”

Winner Carlos Egito

Nominated By: Ren Romero What core value(s) did this person display? Never Let Your Team Down “Today as I was writing this story, it felt like one of those days when nothing was going our way. It would seem like we could not find a solution to all of the issues coming at us from all directions. It's definitely one of those days you'd do anything to get a break. I had two critical issues with one of our tools being used by Support. If Carlos, whom I believe has other important tasks to finish on their current sprint, did not jump in and resolve the issues, we would still be doing a lot of manual tasks which would affect the overall bandwidth of the Support team. You have no idea how you relieved us from additional undue stress. You are a gift! You definitely did not let us down! We appreciate you!”
