When the market is tough for buyers because of scant inventory, building a home can give you a sense of confidence — you know you’re going to get what you want and not have to worry about multiple other buyers beating your offer on the one home that you thought would suit you and your family. You can choose your materials (and hopefully control your budget). Another nice thing about building from scratch is being able to choose the materials that make up everything about your home — and hopefully work within your budget. For example, if you can’t afford to have marble countertops but you want the look of marble, you can opt for white quartz.
