So, what are you looking for in your next home?
Many empty-nesters find themselves with an excessive amount of living space they no longer need. That’s why many choose to downsize when they’re searching for their next homes. In many cases, your new home post-retirement will have less square footage than the home you currently own, but it may also just be a different type of home — for example, a 1-story home opposed to a 2-story home, perhaps with similar square footage; or a home of equal size with less bedrooms and more space dedicated to other areas of the home. This is called “rightsizing.”
Rightsizing is all about finding a more manageable home than the one you currently own.
