Before you officially move in, it’s a good idea to check the condition of the new place and make sure everything is ready for moving day. One Week Before the Move:

• Confirm moving details. If you’re hiring a moving company, contact them to confirm details, such as time of arrival and pickup. • Create a timetable for moving day. This timetable should include items like time to start loading boxes, where/when to stop for lunch, estimated time of arrival at the new place, etc. Doing this will give you a sense of what to expect and prepare for on the day itself. • Finish packing. If you have it, enlist the help of volunteer family and friends to finish packing all your things, leaving behind only the essential items you’ll be using every day. • Check your boxes. Double-check that all your boxes are properly packed and numbered, as well as color-coded by room, if possible. This will help you in the unpacking 167
