agent will help you figure this out, especially if you have a hard time understanding pricing trends or don’t have the time to do enough thorough research.
SPRING INSTEAD?
Spring is generally considered the hottest, most active season in real estate, and while you might not get the best price for the home you want, you will definitely have more homes to choose from. Historically, sales in the months of May, June, July, and August account for 40% of the year’s total home-selling volume. But regardless of what time of year you choose to search for and purchase your home, you need to move quickly when you find a home that you think could be “the one” for you.
HOW TO GAIN AN ADVANTAGE:
Having a great real estate agent on your side will give you an advantage, because he or she will keep on top of local trends, pricing trends, and seasonal trends in your area. Good agents will also be able to tell you about properties coming onto the market before they’re even listed, giving you a leg up in your home search. If you choose to buy in spring or summer, when there’s more competition, an agent can still give you an advantage by helping you come in with a strong offer and great negotiation skills to help beat out other buyers vying for the same property. Part of presenting a strong offer is being pre-approved for a loan beforehand. Your agent can help you with this process. We’ll talk more about this particular process later on in the book.
