Maria Grant - THE INSIDER'S GUIDE TO AUTO INSURANCE

CHAPTER 18 In Case You’re Not Con e Not Convinced… Just in case you’ve read all of this and are still thinking, “But I’m a good driver! I’ll just pay even better attention to everybody else, and I’ll be fine. I only want to get the cheapest insurance I can find,” then have I got some 100% true stories for you: • A woman in Tennessee was speeding in an area she didn’t know. She lost control of her car, which drove down a fence, then reached some wires. From there, the car went up the wires — and up the pole they were on. One of her tires got tangled in the suspended wire, and her car got stuck in mid-air. It took two hours for the fire department to get her down. The woman is fine, and they managed to get her car down, too. Miraculously, the wires, the pole, and power for the town were all unharmed. And by the way, the woman was neither under the influence nor having health issues while she was driving. • A truck driver choked on the snack he was eating while driving. He wound up passing out, and his truck went through the concrete barrier on the side of the road. Thankfully, not only was no one hurt, but the crash freed the stuck food, which saved the driver’s life. • A man was pulling into a parking space when his foot slipped and went onto the gas instead of the brake. He wound up crashing into the building in front of him — which happened to be the DMV, where he was going to renew his license.
