CHAPTER 13 Why Good Pictures Matter

You’ve heard it before and you’ll hear it again: Good-quality pictures of your home and property play a significant role in the home-selling process. In fact, they’re so important that the topic deserves its own chapter. Why do pictures matter? To put it simply, good pictures sell your home. It’s the first thing buyers notice, and it’s what will keep them interested. They can make a major difference in helping you get that highly sought-after sale and finally get your home off the market. If your listing has high-quality photos, you’ll automatically be ahead of other sellers battling for the same buyers. Think about it. If you had to purchase a home in a new city for work and there were only two for sale that fit your needs, which seller would you trust more from the get-go? The one who posts casual pictures that capture dishes in the sink or a sock in the corner, or the one who gives the impression of a clean, pristine lifestyle? Get professional pictures of your home. If you’re a photographer or are good with a camera—or know someone like this—then you’ve already got an advantage. However, even if this isn’t the case, you can still get good-quality pictures to help capture the essence of your home while attracting prospective—and interested —buyers. Hire a professional if you need to. Most real estate agents don’t invest the time or energy to get decent pictures. They’ll show up with their point-and-shoot approach, take a few shots, and call it a day.
