Sometimes homes sit on the market for an extraordinarily long time. That’s what happened with my clients’ home: another Realtor® had spent over a year trying to sell it without success. Within 28 days of taking over, I sold it for 100% of the asking price. Clearly, having the right real estate agent makes a big difference! Can you sell a home without using a real estate agent? Sure. That’s what those “For Sale By Owner” signs are all about. However, there are a lot of advantages to hiring a real estate agent, some of which you may not have considered.

REASON 1: AGENTS CAN GET YOU MORE MONEY FOR YOUR HOME

A lot of people try to sell homes themselves to avoid paying an agent’s commission. The problem is that statistics show agent- sold homes tend to sell for more money than owner-sold do. The average home sold by an agent goes for $230,000. The average home sold without an agent? Only $184,000. That’s a difference of $46,000! Even when you factor in the agent’s commission, the seller will often net more money with an agent’s help.
