Rebecca Southard - HOME BUYING FOR VETERANS

damage. • Get lots of rest tonight, tomorrow is going to be a long day. ON THE DAY OF THE BIG MOVE • If you are PCSing keep in mind the movers will pack everything, and I do mean everything . If there is trash in the garbage can, it's getting packed with the garbage can and it's going to be several months before you see it again. I highly recommend removing everything you plan on hand-carrying, so it doesn't get packed. Put it in your or a friend's car until the movers have left. Hand carry valuables and important documents, once it's packed they won't open the boxes to find it. You also don't want the items to mysteriously disappear, safeguard your valuables by hand carrying them. • Drop off two/four-legged kids at daycare. • Have a last-minute meeting with your movers or friends/ family and make sure they know how you want things to be done. Inform them of the box labels, where each box must go, and how they should be loaded. Make sure all your items are loaded and nothing gets left behind. • Distribute your post-it notes with your contact numbers and the new address to every driver in the moving group. • Make sure all your items for donation/giving away are picked up or delivered to their new owners. • Turn off all light switches, and lock all windows and doors. • Direct your movers with unloading your boxes; show them where each box must go. • Pick up two/four-legged kids from daycare.
