down at a 45 degree angle with the water rushing by. The backend of the canoe started to slip and once it got sideways it quickly flipped over. Jeff was trapped with his legs under his seat, he went under when the canoe turned upside down. I was lucky (I always am) and when the canoe flipped I was thrown out and landed on my feet, near the shore line in about two feet of water. I was hanging on to the canoe and was able to muscle it to the bank and to upright it enough to get Jeff back above the water. We finished the trip in cold wet clothes, bitter painful cold. When we got back to the car our first stop was to get a cold beer. In hind site maybe we should have gotten a hot toddy. Speaking of being flipped out of the canoe and landing on my feet. Well, when I was about 18 years old I was on the back of a motorcycle being driven by my friend John Butcher. Going down the street, in front of us a car had stopped to turn left so John, without reducing speed passed the car on the right. Unfortunately the car turned right and we hit the front fender at about 30 MPH. I was thrown up and over the hood of the car and landed with a roll in the street. It was freezing outside so I had multiple layers of thick winter clothing. The outer layer wound up shredded and torn and my helmet was scratched up from contact with the road.

I was fine, not a scratch, I told you I was lucky!

The Grand Canyon Whitewater Rapids Adventure provided by the Hualapai Indian Tribe, it was an awesome adventure. Gabriel and I joined the expert tour guides and had a wild ride. It had rained heavily for days before and the water was brown, muddy and crashing down the Colorado River rapids.
