Viet Nam Low Military draft number My draft number was 95 and I was about to be drafted into the Viet Nam War. Just by chance they stopped the draft the very year that I was scheduled to be drafted. Some of my classmates had to go because they were born one year before me, some of them never returned. I did not have to go even though all my life I had wanted to enlist. The war was a mess, we were losing, the military went to an all-volunteer system. In hind sight I wish I had enlisted, it is one of my few regrets in life, not to have served.
