• Finalize your moving plans. Decide on whether you’re going to hire a moving company to help you or if you decide to do it yourself. If hiring, now is a good time to fin alize the details of your big move. Don’t forget to enlist the help of family and friends. Let them know when they can come and help you with packing, or with unpacking. • Update personal documents. Update all your personal documents that include your address. Notify your employer, banks, and insurance companies of your change in address.

Two Weeks Before the Move:

• Clean. Tidy up and thoroughly clean every room once you’ve packed all the items in it. • Disassemble furniture that you won’t be using in the following days and pack or prepare for moving. • Set aside all unneeded items. Put to the side everything that you won’t be packing and taking with you to your new home . Th row away what needs to be tossed. Start giving away items you’ve chosen to give away, and schedule donated items for pickup by the local charity or organization to which you’ve decided to donate them. If you’re planning on a garage sale, now is the perfect time to do that. Any items you don’t sell will need to be thrown out or given away. • Discuss with your work. A move takes time and energy, and you’ll likely need to take some time o ff w ork, even if you plan to move over the weekend.
